We appreciate your confidence to buy and pay online one or several of our publications. As we are most mindful of the confidential treatment of your personal data, we use the SSL protocol, one of the most performing systems developed for secure payment.

What secure payment system is used in this site?

The SIPS (Secure Internet Processing Services) is a secure payment solution developed for e-commerce and remote payment transactions by Atos Worldline, a firm that since 1996 is active in the field of e-commerce and e-banking.  In accordance with French and International regulations, SIPS automates the payment transaction between the shopper and merchant through secure internet connections and a payment gateway.

A payment gateway is the infrastructure that allows a merchant to accept credit card using SSL protocol, depending on the applications of the buyer’s computer and operating system. The credit card number is encrypted between the browser and the SIPS server. Atos Worldline is the only recipient of the credit card data, the merchant is not in a position to know this information.

In order to prevent any incident, the encoding system is the most performing of the market, the SSL (Secure Socket Layer).  The SSL secure server guarantees the reliability of your payment through the encoding of all the personal data that are necessary to process your order (name, address, e-mail, credit card details) at the moment it is entered in the buyer’s terminal, thus ensuring a total security all along its internet transfer.

How to know when a webpage is secured?

A secure website creates a safe connection between the website and the web browser so that entered data, such as personal information, credit card details, banking information, etc. is not accessible to unauthorized entities.

When the browser opens a secured connection, "https" can be seen in the URL instead of just http. To know if a website is secure or not, look for the locked yellow colored padlock symbol on the lower right corner of the browser window.

What is a SSL technology?

The Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is a software that encrypts internet traffic and is the most widely deployed security protocol used today. It is essentially a protocol that provides a secure channel between two machines operating over the Internet or an internal network. Technically, SSL is a transparent protocol which requires little interaction from the end user when establishing a secure session. It is designed in such a way it allows:

  • The authentication of browsers and web servers.
  • To control the access to servers, directories, documents or services.
  • The exchange of confidential information between a browser and a server and remained inaccessible to third parties.
  • To make sure that the data exchanged between browser and server cannot be corrupted, in an accidental or intentional manner, without being detected.
