This map, with the same topographic and route network base as the Geological Map of the Pyrenees, shows a number of features characteristic of the Quaternary period : post-glacial formations, alluvial terraces, glaciofluvial formations; glacial formations (Würmian cycle and former glacial deposits); morphological elements of the relief; volcanic complex; alterites of the granitic basement; karstic phenomena; prehistoric sites; eoloian phenomena; earthquakes. Two insets complete this map: a scheme of the extention of the Pyrenean glaciers during the Quaternary, and a table of the Pyrenean Quaternary.

This document is based on the syntesis of the Quaternary of the Pyrenees carried out in 1996 by Pierre Barrère (University of Bordeaux III) and the updating work of Marc Calvet (University of Perpignan), Serbe Courbouleix, Inma Gil Peña and Santiago Martín Alfageme from unpublished maps [Geomorphologic and neotectonic Map at the scale of 1: 200 000 (IGME-ENRESA), Map of the geomorphology and active processes at the scale of 1:400 000 (IGME, cartograffía MAGNA), and the post-graduate thesis of B. Leránoz Istúriz]. Serge Courbouleix is the author of the explanatory notes.
